Read it for your own pleasure or read it to your children, but read it. It is a children’s book, but it is a book that can be enjoyed and loved by anyone. But it was fun to read about the courage and tenacity of the rabbits in this story. Ironic really, the age old battle between wolves and rabbits, in reality, we all know the rabbits don’t stand a chance. The tale includes concepts such as community, love, trust, faith, hope, and forgiveness. The Green Ember concludes with a traitor, a magnificent battle, and a small victory. These new circumstance caused Picket to become bitter at nearly everyone, it was obvious to everyone. Picket had to face his worst enemy, himself. There was much to learn at the Mended Wood, not all of it was pleasant. This new comfort could not resolve the reality that the two young rabbits did not know the whereabouts of their father, mother, and baby brother Jacks. Many rabbits had found community and tranquility in the Mended Wood, an amazing place. ![]() They found safety in a place called Mended Wood. Nothing was the same, Heather and Picket were changed. It was not long before they were rescued by their Uncle Wilfred and a white rabbit named Smalls. Both of them were being chased by vicious wolves.
